England World Cup 2022 group-stage fixtures in full: Dates and kick-off times for Gareth Southgate’s side

ith national squads being announced and club football starting to wind down, attention is quickly shifting to the World Cup ahead of the action getting underway in Qatar later this month.

The tournament gets underway on November 20, when the hosts face Ecuador to kick things off and start a hectic 29 days of football building up to the final in Lusail on December 18.

England get their latest bid for a first major success since 1966 up and running when they face Iran in Group B, before the focus turns to the USA four days later.

The Three Lions faced the USA at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa when Fabio Capello was in charged, with it finishing in a 1-1 draw as Rob Green had a moment to forget in goal when letting Clint Dempsey’s speculative effort beat him.

As at the Euros in 2016, England face Wales in the the group stage. Daniel Sturridge struck a stoppage-time winner in Lens that day, but it was Wales who still topped the group.

England will be hoping to avoid a repeat of that, as Gareth Southgate’s side target top spot in Group B to set up a potential last-16 match against Senegal.

Group B: England vs Iran – Monday 21 November, 1pm, BBC

Group B: England vs USA – Friday 25 November, 7pm, ITV

Group B: England vs Wales – Tuesday 29 November, 7pm, BBC
