The January transfer window will open in a few days’ time and all of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are expected to be busy. Mykhaylo Mudryk is a man in demand, with the Gunners chasing the Ukraine winger as a priority following Gabriel Jesus’ injury. Manchester United are now believed to have opened talks with PSV Eindhoven over Cody Gakpo.

Elsewhere, Chelsea have now all but completed the double signing of David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos as the first new players arrive under Graham Potter. Both youngsters for the future, Chelsea are also expected to be busy on the first-team front too, with plenty of names linked as ever including Enzo Fernandez, Youssoufa Moukoko and Joao Felix.

Spurs, meanwhile, are thought to be tracking Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Porro and Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. Elsewhere, free agent Cristiano Ronaldo is now close to a big-money move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, likely to sign a huge contract spanning seven years. Jurgen Klopp has suggested Liverpool will spend in the January transfer market amid rumours they are keen on a deal for Jude Bellingham.

Borussia Dortmund will reportedly demand upwards of £130million for Bellingham, while Liverpool have been touted to spend a whopping £250m to improve their team after a middling first half of the campaign.

“I don’t know about the amount of money,” Klopp told reporters.

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal cannot afford to rest on their laurels and must take full advantage of the January transfer window.

The Gunners are currently sat top of the Premier League and five points clear of Manchester City ahead of their Boxing Day clash with West Ham.

Indeed, the Daily Mirror claim Manchester United are looking to take advantage of PSV’s financial problems and make a move for the 23-year-old for less than £50m.

Chelsea close to Andrey Santos deal after David Datro Fofana medical and both players could be loaned out

Chelsea are close to signing Brazilian starlet Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama.

The teenage midfielder has yet to complete a medical or sign a contract but broad agreements over the transfer fee – an initial £13million plus a further £7m in add-ons – and a five-year deal are now in place.

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has confirmed the club will be active in the January transfer window.

Spurs, who resume their Premier League campaign against Brentford on Monday, went into the World Cup break fourth in the standings but Conte has earlier said there is still a gap between them and their rivals when it comes to squad depth.

Sporting right-back Pedro Porro has been linked with a move to north London, as well as Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who was close to a switch earlier this year.
