The German will lead the country into the 2026 World Cup after replacing Paul Bento following their round of 16 loss to Brazil.
Klinsmann, a cult-hero at Spurs following two playing spells in the 1990s, has been out of work since leaving Hertha Berlin after only ten weeks in charge back in 2020.
Still, the 58-year-old boasts significant experience in coaching at major international tournaments, having taken Germany to the 2006 World Cup and coached the USA in 2014.
South Korea meet Colombia and Uruguay in friendlies over the course of the international break as the Klinsmann era gets underway.
Speaking of his appointment, Spurs forward Son said: “At Tottenham, we still have people who spent time with coach Klinsmann back in his playing days, and he has such a sterling reputation.
“I have only had brief conversations with him, but I could already tell he was a great man who cares so much about players.
“Tottenham official told me we have an exceptional coach for south Korea, and that has only raised my expectations.”
Uncertainty, however, surrounds the forward’s coach at club level.
Antonio Conte is expected to be sacked, with senior players doubting whether the Italian will last the international break following his public outburst at Southampton.
