Over the next six weeks, India will host a cricket extravaganza with England hoping to successfuly defend the trophy despite a horrific start against New Zealand.
This year’s 50-over tournament will once again see an opening-round group stage featuring all 10 teams playing each other in a round-robin format before the top four graduate through to the knockouts.
The semi-finals will take place in mid-November before a final at the huge 132,000-seater Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
After a frankly dismal perfromance in qualifying, two-time champions West Indies will miss the World Cup for the first time. Hosts India are the team to beat, but don’t rule out the likes of South Africa, New Zealand and Pakistan while Australia are eyeing a record fifth title.
